The mortgage valuation surveyor informed me there is a concern of asbestos boilers present in property. Why would there be asbestos, is it dangerous and does the survey look at this?

Asbestos is a deleterious material of several naturally occurring materials. Some types may be in building materials such as boilers. Its use is widespread, for example - as it has a range of useful characteristic fire retarding qualities and it may be found in boiler cupboard. Technically all forms including white are carcinogenic and may lead to lung cancer or fibrosis following prolonged exposure. Should you find asbestos, you should be careful never to remove the asbestos. Professional advice should be sought as soon as possible.
